Sylvi, oh Sylvi - once you meet her your word will light up, that’s for sure. And then, when you see what she creates it all makes sense - bright bubbly goodness that makes you feel good when you wear it. From her backyard studio in Nipomo, CA, Sylvi brings to life her line of apparel, home goods, adornments and more which are dyed using a process called ice dye. The garment is tied in unique ways and then ice placed on top. Powdered dye is sprinkled over the ice and as it melts, a unique pattern is made. Once the ice starts melting, the garment takes on a creation of its own making each of Sylvi’s creations one-of-a-kind.
As a night owl, Sylvi’s creations take shape once the sun sets. Procrastination can be the catalyst of her creative pursuits and when we learned this, we all had a laugh. It’s such a relatable part of being a creative and we are still all wondering why the best ideas come the night before they are due. That’s the beauty of SLOcally Made - there is time for the creative waves to come and go and for all of us to follow the inspiration that naturally comes when we all hang out together for a month.
