How would you describe your business?
I'm the one-woman show behind The San Luis Obispo Farmers' Market Cookbook—a beautiful book highlighting the bounty of seasonal ingredients available at SLOcal farmers' markets. The recipes were contributed by farmers, food artisans, and farm-to-table chefs in SLO County, and I did all the writing, photography, food styling, designing, recipe testing, marketing, and self-publishing to bring the beloved cookbook to life!
How did you get into your trade?
I'm a self-taught entrepreneur! Kendra Aronson Creative Studio specializes in content creation for the culinary industry: cookbook production, food photography, food styling, food writing, and web design. I'm always hungry—hungry for food-related client work, hungry for personal passion projects, and hungry for for my next meal (which I'm probably thinking about right now...).
Working as a maker on the Central Coast can be hard, expensive, and risky. Why do you do it?
I am the truest essence of myself when I am making—whipping up from scratch meals in my home kitchen, shooting photos on location at restaurants, creating page layouts for my next cookbook... I make because it's gratifying to produce good work and to see good people interact with it and appreciate it!
